For the Mandarin Oriental Residences, CARVART was engaged to design and deliver custom architectural glass solutions that reflect the property’s luxury identity while meeting high-performance demands. The scope included oversized shower enclosures, custom mirrors, and specialty laminated glass, each designed to harmonize with the project’s rich interior palette. CARVART introduced bronze-toned fluted and flat glass to bring warmth and depth, developed custom hardware systems to support large glass doors with minimal visual intrusion, and integrated advanced EVA lamination for long-term clarity and durability in humid environments. Every detail was guided by a commitment to restraint, refinement, and lasting quality.

CARVART was tasked with creating a fully custom glass package for a luxury residential setting that demanded both visual elegance and long-term performance. The challenge began with the design team’s desire to shift away from traditional clear glass, seeking warmer, richer materials that complemented the high-end aesthetic. Compounding the complexity were oversized doors that required structural integrity with minimal hardware, along with environmental conditions like high humidity that could threaten the longevity of typical laminated glass.

Material Departure: Clear glass was rejected in favor of warmer finishes to align with the refined tone of the interiors.

Hardware Constraints: Oversized doors needed to be structurally stable while minimizing visible hinges and support.

High-Humidity Environments: Shower zones required a lamination method that preserved clarity and strength over time.

CARVART’s team reimagined every component of the scope, from glass selection to hardware engineering and lamination process. Bronze fluted and flat glass panels were introduced to create dimension, warmth, and layered light effects. Custom-engineered door hardware supported the large glass panels using only two hinges, preserving a sleek aesthetic. To ensure longevity in wet environments, an EVA hydrophobic interlayer was integrated into the lamination to protect against moisture ingress while maintaining optical clarity.
