CARVART is proud to join forces with Nouvel, a pioneer in the design and production of cast and blown glass, to introduce these works of art.
Designed and produced by Nouvel’s team of master artisans in Mexico City, glass interpretations of classic bricks create high impact walls and partitions, favoring the passage of light between space. The solid, pure-glass blocks offer design possibilities limited only by an architect or designer’s imagination and vision.
NVL Block is a modular interlocking glass brick that can be used for architectural or decorative intentions. The innovative interlock creates smooth curves that seamlessly allow freestanding and completely self-supporting construction without the need for mortar, armature, or fasteners of any kind. The result is a celebration of uninterrupted form and light on a monumental scale.
PRV Block, designed by iconic modernist Mexican architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, translates the creator’s definitive sensibility in the block’s geometric triangular pattern—an amalgamation of pre-Columbian motifs with modern aesthetics—into the beauty and strength of glass.
Andres Mier y Teran is the creator of the MyT Block. Inspired by Aztec culture, this piece blends the transparent advantages of glass with a neo-precolonial ornamental motif.
EG Block, by Mexican designer Emiliano Godoy, is inspired by an oceanic phenomenon. This shock wave generates a beautiful refraction in the glass and in the environment. The sharp geometric shapes create an organic movement in the viewer’s eye, while angular elements distort the concept of depth and height.
Dutch-born artist Jan Hendrix designed JH Block which can be assembled into a large screen structure, forming a crystalline mosaic of abstracted botanical forms informed by Hendrix’s long-standing research into plants and natural history.
