AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation

A New Landmark for Discovery and Exploration

The Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation expands the American Museum of Natural History's mission through a bold architectural vision that brings science, education, and public engagement together under one roof. As part of this transformative addition to one of New York City's most celebrated cultural institutions, CARVART delivered a collection of custom architectural glass and metal solutions designed to support the building's fluid forms, open circulation, and immersive visitor experience.

Throughout the project, CARVART's scope included custom glass railings, oversized glass partitions, frameless glass systems, architectural doors, metal railings, perforated metal pedestals, and specialty handrail assemblies. Each element was carefully engineered to integrate with the building's highly sculptural architecture while maintaining transparency, durability, and safety. The combination of glass and metal systems helps preserve uninterrupted sightlines throughout the space, allowing visitors to experience the building's dramatic interiors while moving seamlessly between exhibitions, learning environments, and public gathering areas.

By combining precision engineering with architectural craftsmanship, CARVART helped bring the Gilder Center's vision to life through solutions that balance performance with visual simplicity. The result is an environment where structure, materiality, and discovery work together to create an inspiring destination that welcomes visitors of all ages while supporting the museum's continued commitment to education, innovation, and exploration.
